This is the final piece |link|. I got the idea from a toy with a spring between its head and body, it's pretty cute, rite? So I add that spring movement to my paper toys design, make them can do some bounce when we hit it. In addition of that, I make the arms bendable and turnable.
The function still makes a problem with the technical stuff, the legs won't hold the body when we hit it causing it unstable and then fall. The first solution is add some weight to the body, so it will push the toy to the ground. We must make sure the legs are very strong, they musn't be broken off from the structure or bent. The rite paper for this is weightd from 200-300gsm, I always use this to make a strong body structure. It still can be fold and cut nicely. But all of these things aren't enough, if you want to sell this base on its quality, you must coat it and then make the inside of the toys hard. I can make it as hard as plastic, so it won't be bent and teared up from its structure, but I dont want to reveal that technique now, sorry.
Just to make one of this toy took 4-5 hours and it's all handmade, which will be expensive if you sell it to some designers or collector.
If you have some questions about paper toys, just ask me. I will gladly help.
